VivArte Nature, created by Giorgos Tsintanelis and Sandra Pons Carreras, is a private estate of 10 hectares surrounded by centenaries olives and holms, combining the power of the mountains and the charm of the Aegean Sea
Located 5km from Giannitsi village, connected by “dirt road”, and 20 km from Marmari port. A remote, wild and unspoiled place, ideal for isolation, meditation and creation. The physiognomy of the totally secluded landscape, with a view of Cavo-Doro, is breathtaking. The scenery is simply beautiful and the area is one of immense tranquility and inspiration.
The project VivArte Nature started in 2003 and aims to focus on the development of natural spaces through human activity. It explores art in rural areas and proposes the role of arts and cultural activities as co-producers of a new meaning about living better and more sustainable.
Vivarte Nature was born from a deep need to give ourselves time to step back and have space to really reconsider things and get away from the fast life of the cities. It made us thinks about the role that art could play today, beyond being more than a mere product of consumption and promotion. The act of going out into nature awakened something that was asleep in us.
The totally isolated landscape gives us a different spatial and sensory perception. A living resonance for learning to retranslate nature, amplify our senses and live in the moment.
Vivarte nature is the synonym of simple, authentic and real.
VivArte Nature Creators
Giorgos Tsintanelis / Sandra Pons Carreras
We started our studies in the arts separately; Giorgos Tsintanelis in Athens and Sandra Pons Carrera in Barcelona. In 1986, we continued on with our postgraduate research in Paris where we shared common visions and concerns. In 1992, we returned to Greece and started teaching arts in institutes and schools of Athens and Piraeus. In 1999, we created the Art Club, a center of research and creation on the visual and expressive Arts, and then the art centre “Vivarte” where we continue to teach to this day. Furthermore, we have participated in events and exhibitions in Greece and abroad.
Focusing on the triptych Man-Nature-Culture, we started to implement a common vision; the project Vivarte Nature in 2003. We have dedicated our lives to a decades-long dream in order to create a haven in pure nature; a shelter of awakening and awareness which we can share with people of intellect and arts. A place for all those who would like to experience special programmes in the arts and culture.
The poetics of the project linked to Greek myths
We traveled to mountain tops to meet the Oreads, nymphs of mountains.
We kept company to the stars, staying by the side of the Hesperides, daughters of the night.
We dived into the crystal-clear waters of the Aegean, wanting to swim with the Nereids.
We searched for the Dryads, nymphs of the forests.
As if by magic, we found them all together, living hidden in an idyllic and peaceful place; an isolated and pristine place where the feeling of freedom becomes the mirror of the soul.
